Auditorium di San Tommaso

Auditorium di San Tommaso is a versatile space dedicated to the socialisation of culture. It is part of the Department of Humanities at the University of Pavia, serving as a cultural and artistic hub that promotes public engagement activities for students, the city, and the surrounding community.

Its mission is to foster synergy between research and artistic and cultural production, bridging the university environment with the city and encouraging the integration of diverse fields of knowledge, education, and active citizen participation. In line with this mission, the Auditorium offers a range of activities, including the conception, organisation, and production of events, workshops, and training opportunities for both students and the public, with a strong focus on the visual and performing arts.

The Auditorium offers a diverse program of events across two seasons each year: October to December and February to May. The events are divided into several sections:

Infrazioni hosts performances, live shows, film screenings and book presentations; Retrospettive organises screenings of great authors and genres in the history of cinema; Eventi Speciali offers initiatives in collaboration with various organisations and institutions. In addition to these regular events, the Auditorium organises workshops with professionals for students and the public. The Exhibitions section is dedicated to small exhibits set up in the space adjacent to the hall.

Every Friday morning, the Auditorium hosts the Theatre School in collaboration with the Fraschini Theatre Foundation.

Dedicated to the memory of Prof. Vincenzo Buccheri, the Auditorium is an intimate space with a maximum capacity of 46 seats. This small size creates a welcoming and participatory atmosphere ideal for theatre, cultivating closeness and relationships. It also provides a platform for cinema that revisits masterpieces and encourages research. Located at the entrance of the recently restored Palazzo San Tommaso, the Auditorium serves as a physical link between the University and the local community, bringing together education, art and culture.
