Examinations
The examination sessions and the number of exam dates are defined in the Academic Calendar
The Exam dates for each individual subject can be found on the exam notice board (search for the Department of Humanities).
Exam registration takes place via the Esse3 platform, within the Reserved Area, which each student can access through the University website using their credentials (Username: tax code in capital letters; Password: personal password for University services - Wi-Fi service, access to PCs in computer rooms).
A short tutorial will guide you through the steps to complete your enrolment.
If you encounter any problems, please contact the Academic Office of the Department of Humanities at esse3studiumanistici@unipv.it, specifying your student number and the codes of the exams for which you require assistance in your email.
Please note the following:
- Written exams that require a compulsory oral exam can be found in the menu section called “Partial exams”. Please check this section to register.
- Some students (who are late in submitting their study plan or have unpaid fees, etc.) may not be able to view any exam sessions in the “Exams” section. In this case, please rectify your situation and, if the problem persists, contact the

Registration in ESSE3 for oral exams will be possible from the twentieth to the third day prior to the exam date, and for written exams in ESSE3 from the twentieth to the fourth day prior to the exam date (UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED). Students who have registered for an exam and then do not intend to take it MUST cancel their registration in good time.
Special conditions for which it is necessary to contact the lecturer directly, who, in these specific cases, will still record the results in the paper register.
- those enrolled in the old four-year (or five-year) degree programme prior to Ministerial Decree 509;
- those enrolled in individual courses (info at https://web.unipv.it/formazione/iscriversi-a-corsi-singoli/)
Here is the justification form that working students are required to submit to lecturers for absences from work due to exams.
For the academic year 2025–2026, the Teaching Innovation and Digital Communication Service will organize courses for the acquisition of the 3 CFU credits required for the Computer Skills qualification (501096) for the degree programs in Modern Languages and Cultures and Philosophy, and for the Computer Laboratory course (501045) for the degree program in Humanities.
First-year students enrolled in Modern Languages and Cultures (Languages for Business track) and Humanities, third-year students enrolled in Modern Languages and Cultures (Linguistic-Philological-Literary track) and Philosophy, as well as students enrolled in previous academic years who have not yet obtained the Computer Skills/Computer Laboratory qualification, may register for the corresponding course in order to acquire the computer credits.
The course is delivered through the Kiro Didattica platform (https://elearning.unipv.it), accessible with university credentials. Students must select the Computer Skills category, then click on the course title — Computer Skills (501096 – 3 CFU) for Modern Languages and Cultures and Philosophy; Computer Laboratory (501045 – 3 CFU) for Humanities — and then click the Enroll me button.
Course registration will remain open throughout the academic year.
The courses include lectures, intermediate tests, and final tests for the following modules, based on Windows 10 and Office 2016:
- Computer Essentials
- Online Essentials
- Word Processing
- Presentation
To obtain the Computer Skills qualification, students must pass a final exam via the dedicated exam platform, Kirotesting (https://kirotesting.unipv.it). To take the exam, prior registration on Kirotesting is required: after logging in with university credentials, select ALL COURSES, then Computer Skills, click on Computer Skills Exam (501096 – 3 CFU) for Modern Languages and Cultures and Philosophy; Computer Laboratory (501045 – 3 CFU) for Humanities, and then click the Enroll me button.
Registration for the final exams will be subject to specific time windows. The opening and closing dates for exam registration, as well as the exam procedures, will be published on the home page of the course and of the exam well in advance of the first available exam session.
The final exam, consisting of a test with 28 questions (similar to those included in the course), is considered passed with at least 75% correct answers.
At the end of the final exam, students will be able to check their result directly on the platform. In case of a positive outcome, the 3 CFU credits will be automatically recorded in the electronic transcript after the last exam of the session.
Students who have already passed at least 4 modules (not necessarily the ones included in the online course) of the ECDL Core Start or Full Syllabus 5.0 Certification, the New ECDL Base, Standard, or Full Standard Certification, or the EIPASS 7 Modules User or Standard Certification, will not need to take the final exam. Instead, they must send the ECDL certificate (or the ECDL Profile certifying the modules passed — http://www.ecdl.it/ecdl-profile) or the EIPASS certificate to the e-mail address corsiecdl@unipv.it, specifying their degree program and student ID number. After the validity of the certification is confirmed, and following the date of the first available recording session, the 3 CFU credits will be automatically recorded in the electronic transcript.
Students holding a language certification may request its recognition directly from the instructor responsible for the foreign language courses for which certification recognition is provided.
The course instructor will grant recognition of certifications based on the equivalences established and specified in the Teaching Guide. Students must verify that they meet the requirements for recognition before submitting their request to the instructor.
It is not permitted to sit the exam and then request recognition of the certification afterwards, following a failed attempt or refusal by the student to accept the exam result.
Exam session in November 2024 (a.y. 2023–24)
This session will be reserved exclusively for the following categories of students:
a) Bachelor’s or Master’s students who are in the advanced stages of writing their thesis and still need to obtain no more than 18 credits (in addition to those required for the thesis itself);
b) Students enrolled in single courses.
Graduating students must provide evidence that they meet the above requirements through a formal request submitted by their thesis supervisors to the instructors responsible for the courses.
Faculty members who agree to hold this extraordinary exam session—given the overlap with teaching activities—are invited to use their offices, while still ensuring the public nature of the examinations.
For the Foreign Language A and B courses included in the study plans: all information is made available on the Kiro pages of each teaching activity.
For the Foreign Language 1, 2, and 3 courses and advanced courses (c.p. = corsi progrediti) of the degree programs in Modern Languages and Cultures / Languages and Literatures for Intercultural Communication, please refer to the table below.
