Research assessment

In order to monitor and enhance Research, the Department:

• oversees and promotes a quality policy for Departmental Research;
• carries out periodic monitoring of research results in relation to ministerial standards (VQR), and accordingly proposes guidelines and solutions to improve scientific output where shortcomings or difficulties are identified;
• discusses any reported critical issues and plans appropriate corrective actions;
• proposes to the Department Council merit-based criteria for the allocation of ordinary research funds, in order to make the Department’s research more efficient.
