Who we are

The Department of Humanities was established in 2013, following Law 240 of December 30, 2010, continuing the notable and centuries-old humanistic tradition of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at the University of Pavia, while also responding to the broader and more refined needs of modern culture. The names of famous scholars, admired places of study and teaching, and highly specialised library collections that have grown and been organised over time enhance the prestige of its historical image. At the same time, the constant updating of scientific methods and teaching, along with the increasingly rich and innovative structure of the educational offerings and facilities, gives the Department a distinctive profile and appeal in the Italian and international university landscape.
